ISPM 15 heat-treated packaging can be arranged for FOMEX export shipments on request. Non-compliant wood packaging can delay or refuse entry in multiple destination markets, creating demurrage, rework, and customer complaints that are avoidable when packing is specified correctly at booking.
Why ISPM 15 is non-negotiable
Many destination markets require heat-treated or fumigated wood packaging marks on pallets, cradles, and solid wood elements used in container stuffing. Missing or illegible marks create holds at the port. Even when the cargo panels themselves are compliant products, the packaging timber is inspected separately under biosecurity rules.
Buyers should confirm whether their forwarder or warehouse will add extra wood dunnage after the container leaves the mill. If so, that added timber must also meet ISPM 15 — otherwise a compliant mill pack can still fail at destination.
